You may have heard of Michael Yon. He is a resident-reporter who has worn out more time with gangs in Iraq than anyone else (and also the one who snapped this noted pic at right). He has newly published a work and on the link below you can peruse the first chapter. His stories are striking and inspiring and belonging to the object. For instance, he was the first one to set forth that Iraq was in the middle of a civil war a few years ago, which earned him some ponderous criticism from some war supporters. He returned to Iraq in 2006 and now reports on the stupendous turnaround that he has seen not only in the martial side but in the relationships between the American soldiers and the Iraqi race thanks to Not particular Petraus' generalship. His testimony has one only-handedly changed my spirit about whether we should keep our troops there (and, yes, convinced me to go in front and stick with McCain in the meaningless first vote today).
