MP3: Ihsahn - Unhealer

You'd be forgiven for mistaking this trace for new Opeth, after all that is Mikael Åkerfeldt providing visitor vocals. Uneasy listeners will record however that the music has a separate blackened Norwegian perceive, somewhat cognate to Arcturus or Spiral Designer, another not-quite-so-wonderful revelation when you acquire skill in that the latter's rhythm division of Asgeir Mickelson and Lars Norberg (drums and deep respectively) performs here as well. What is unexpected though, is how much heavier this sounds than any of Ihsahn's new work, including his former solo album "The foe" and his work with Peccatum. I positively wasn't expecting to analogous this at all since I fell off the Emperor bandwagon around the duration of "IX equilibrium" and port't been too impressed with any of the members be in action since then outside of Zyklon. It's entertaining - I still hear the heroic symphonic elements of Emperor, but there's a far stronger demise-metal undercurrent blended in with various proceeding/prog-stone touches. This special track "Unhealer" has way more projecting "clean" powers than the rest of the album, but it's balanced out by some of Ihsahn's superlatively good, most straight-up metal be in action ever (well, at least since Thou Shall Go through). It's worth noting too, again not that you should positively be surprised, that the guitar playing is phenomenal. Also, you can't perceive by the ear it so much here, but there's also a huge parity to latter-era Death going on. It makes me accomplish that Ihsahn's coarse file really isn't that far off from Tap Schuldiner's vox on "The whole of perseverance". All in all, I'm very impressed.
