An Interview with Justin Jackson
Justin Jackson was a supplemental first circular selection of the Amethystine Jays in the 2007 drawing. Jackson played in the Large bay Coast Combination in 2007 and is now a limb of the Lansing Lugnuts. Jackson has made a useful start to the 2008 period of the year and is playing well for a 19 year old. Lately Batters Box talked with Jackson in Lansing.
BB: Approach up to the draft last year did you be sure of the Jays were the team after you?
JJ: There were a lot of not the same teams on me but the Jays showed a specific interest and I am really excited to be with the Sapphirine Jays and it has been a vast situation.
BB: You had already committed to guild, was there a lot of thought about going pro or were you already committed?
JJ: There was definitely a lot of contemplation went into it and a lot before the drawing which made my decision easier ruling up to the draft. I made a advantageous decision and I am very excited about what happened.
BB: What was it resembling for an 18 year old to move absent from home and essentially get a full duration job and in the GCL too?
JJ: It's definitely a tough disposal but life is about acquisition of knowledge and there was a lot of learning going on last summer, and a lot of serviceable things happened that's helping me rectilinear now. A lot of the things we did and got out of the way made it easier for this year.
BB: Was there a big disparity between playing in the GCL and playing your high-reaching school sphere?
JJ: Yeah it's a big variation, you figure out now that this is a job and you take more self-esteem into it now because you are doing it for a live now. That was the biggest being and learning a ordinary way and things resembling that will incorporate into how you do because a lot of distinct things are involved in playing pro sphere and it is different than playing desultory cultivator ball.
BB: Did you see much of a contrariety between the pitchers in the GCL and in dilettante baseball?
JJ: In dilettant baseball you see a serviceable pitcher here and there but once you pace into the pro circle it's going to be a advantageous pitcher, the good in the highest degree of the best, everyday and that's a big dissimilarity.
